Pokémon Infinite Fusion Walkthrough
Pokémon Infinite Fusion is a fan-made game that combines creativity, exploration, and nostalgia with a twist: it allows you to fuse any two Pokémon to create brand-new hybrids. This comprehensive walkthrough will guide you through the game’s major routes, gyms, fusions, and secrets, so you can rise from rookie to Champion with ease. You can download Pokémon Infinite Fusion for Android, Mac, Steam Deck, Linux, and Windows by clicking here.
Walkthrough Overview
- Region: Kanto (with Johto and custom areas included)
- Gameplay Time: ~40–70 hours depending on exploration
- Core Feature: Pokémon Fusion using DNA Splicers
- Gyms: 8 Kanto Gyms + Elite Four
- Game Modes: Story Mode, Randomized Mode, and Challenge Runs
Selecting Game Options
When you start a new game in Pokémon Infinite Fusion, the first thing you’ll do is choose your game mode. By default, only Classic Mode is available, which follows the traditional Kanto-style progression with original generation mechanics. If you already have a save file, you’ll unlock additional options like Modern Mode, Randomizer, and Special Modes. Modern Mode adjusts wild and trainer Pokémon to include more from later generations, making it feel more balanced and fresh. Randomizer lets you shuffle wild Pokémon, items, and even trainer teams, perfect for repeat playthroughs. The only Special Mode currently available is Single Species Mode, where every opponent’s team includes fusions involving the same base Pokémon that you select.
After choosing your game mode, you’ll be prompted to enter your age, gender, and name. Following that, the game asks you to set your difficulty level (Normal, Hard, or Insane), whether you’d like to use Standard or Reversed Mode, and if you want Autosave enabled. In Reversed Mode, the fusion order is flipped (e.g., Pikachu + Charmander looks different than Charmander + Pikachu), offering a unique visual and strategic variation. Normal difficulty is recommended for first-time players as it offers a balanced challenge without being overwhelming.
Controls can also be configured easily by pressing F1 on your keyboard. This opens a menu where you can see the default key bindings and customize them. Each action in the game has up to four slots where you can assign your preferred keys. Just click any of the boxes next to the action name and press the key you want. There’s also a reset button to restore all controls to their default layout if needed.
For this walkthrough, we’re proceeding with Classic Mode, Normal Difficulty, Standard Fusion Mode, and with Autosave turned ON for safety. These settings provide a stable and enjoyable experience, especially if this is your first time playing Pokémon Infinite Fusion.
The Beginning and Badge 1
You wake up in your room in Pallet Town, and before heading out, it’s smart to check your laptop — you’ll find a free Potion in it. Trust me, it helps in your first battle. After that, go downstairs. Your mom will talk to you briefly and ask what name you want to give your rival. Let’s stick with “Blue” for now.
As you step outside, Blue shows up and says Professor Oak went to Viridian City. Once he leaves, start walking north into the grass — but before you take even two steps, Oak will stop you and bring you to his lab. It’s finally time to pick your starter Pokémon. You can choose between Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
Once you’ve picked yours, Blue takes the other two and fuses them into one. Yeah, cheap move, right? But that’s your first taste of fusion battles. You’ll fight him right there in the lab. If you used the Potion earlier, you should be fine. After the battle, Oak gives you a task — go to Viridian City and grab a parcel for him.
Before you leave, go to Blue’s house and talk to his sister. She’ll give you the Town Map.
Route 1
This path is short and simple. On the way, a Poké Mart worker gives you another free Potion. There’s also a girl here who challenges you to a quick battle. Make sure you heal if needed.
There’s a visible item Poké Ball on the ground — grab it. You don’t have Poké Balls yet, so you can’t catch wild Pokémon for now, but you can train your starter a little.
Viridian City
Once you reach town, head straight to the Poké Mart. The shopkeeper gives you Oak’s Parcel — and a bonus: your first DNA Splicer for fusion!
Before you can move north to Route 2, the path is blocked by a sleepy old man. So return to Pallet Town and deliver the parcel to Professor Oak. In return, you get the Pokédex, 5 Poké Balls, and if you talk to the male scientist, 2 more Poké Balls.
Back in Viridian, the Mart is now open for business. You can buy Potions, Poké Balls, DNA Splicers, and more.
If you already had a save file and reopened the game, a deliveryman inside the Poké Mart gives you a Pyukumuku.
At the Pokémon Center, if you have a Spearow, a youngster will offer you a trade for a Bellsprout — a pretty decent early Grass-type for Brock.
Now that the old man has moved, you can head north to Route 2. But before that, let’s visit Route 22 for something optional but rewarding.
Route 22
This area is on the left side of Viridian. You’ll fight a few trainers and soon run into Blue again.
Blue’s Team:
- Pidgey (Lv 7)
- Starter Fusion (Lv 8) – type depends on your starter choice
Winning this battle gets you some DNA Splicers. Even better: this battle unlocks a hidden location!
Bonus: Secret Garden
If you beat Blue on Route 22, you unlock a path back on Route 1. Walk to the far right side and you’ll enter the Secret Garden. This area has rare Pokémon, useful items, and fusions you won’t find elsewhere early on.
Important: If you defeat Brock first without doing the Route 22 battle, the Secret Garden stays locked forever!
Route 2 & Viridian Forest
Route 2 is mostly a path forward, but has grass for catching more Pokémon like Nidoran, Rattata, and Caterpie. At the gate before the forest, a girl can teach your Pokémon Fury Cutter — a Bug-type move that gets stronger each turn.
Viridian Forest is your first real challenge. Lots of trainers here, including:
- Lass with a Geodude/Nidoran F fusion (Lv 9)
- Bug Catchers using Caterpie, Weedle, and their weird fusions
Pick up any mushrooms you find on the ground. They can be:
- Tiny or Big Mushrooms (sell for cash)
- Poison Mushrooms (hurt you)
- Or even wild Paras!
Some trees have spider webs — check them for items or surprise Spinarak.
Exit the forest to reach your first big city: Pewter City.
Pewter City
Now it’s getting exciting. At the Pokémon Center, head upstairs. This second floor exists in almost every city from now on and includes:
- Move Reminder (no Heart Scales needed — just money)
- Wonder Trade Counter (needs tickets or a pass)
- Update Man (helps fix game issues or settings)
Inside the Hotel, you’ll meet the Quest Master. He tracks your side quest progress and gives rewards. You’ll find NPCs with tasks like:
- Finding a lost Revive on a bench
- Bringing 3 Tiny Mushrooms
- Showing a fully evolved Bug-type
Complete just 1 quest here to get HM08 Flash — super useful for dark caves.
There’s also a Hiker outside who gives you a Flute each time you beat a Gym Leader. You’ll find him in every Gym-town.
Other extras:
- Trade: A boy inside the Center offers a Tyrogue for a Mankey
- Museum (right side) has a fossil machine and a Metronome tutor
- One room is blocked by a tree — come back later with Cut to get the Old Amber
Pewter Gym – Leader: Brock
Before entering, talk to the guy in sunglasses. He gives you a Fresh Water and tips about the Gym — he shows up at every Gym in the game.
Inside the Gym, you only need to fight one trainer to reach Brock, but here are both:
- Lass: Geodude/Nidoran F (Lv 9)
- Youngster: Geodude/Caterpie (Lv 7), Sandshrew/Geodude (Lv 7)
When facing Brock, there’s a rule: you can only bring two Pokémon, just like him.
Brock’s Team:
- Geodude/Pidgey (Lv 9)
- Diglett/Onix (Lv 12)
Grass or Water-types work best — even better if they’re fused to cover weaknesses.
Once you win, you get:
- Boulder Badge
- TM39 Rock Tomb
- Your first Wonder Trade Ticket
Outside the Gym, that Hiker from before will now give you a special Flute as a reward.
You’re now ready to head east toward Mt. Moon and the road to Cerulean City!
Mt. Moon and Badge 2 – Cerulean City Adventure
Once you leave Pewter City heading east, a short route leads you to Route 3. This stretch is packed with trainers, so be ready for a few back-to-back battles. Many trainers here use early fusions like Spearow/Rattata or Pidgey/Caterpie. It’s a good place to level up your new team members.
On this route, you can also catch some interesting wild Pokémon and fusions in the grass, including Jigglypuff, Nidoran, and their mixes. Keep an eye out for hidden items near rocks and flowers — one of them is a Rare Candy tucked between two ledges.
Pokémon Center Before Mt. Moon
Right before the cave entrance is a Pokémon Center. Use this opportunity to heal up. Inside, there’s a shady guy offering to sell you a Magikarp for 500 Pokédollars. It’s totally worth it — even better if you fuse it with something solid for early Water-type coverage.
There’s also a Wonder Trade machine on the second floor now, and you can use your trade ticket from Brock’s Gym if you want to gamble for something new.
Mt. Moon
This cave has multiple levels, hidden items, fossils, and quite a few battles. Bring Pokémon with good typing against Zubat, Geodude, and Ekans fusions. You’ll also face a handful of Rocket Grunts — the game’s first evil team. They typically use poison, dark, and ground-type fusions.
Pick up every visible Poké Ball you see — most are either Potions, Repels, or useful TMs. One hidden TM teaches Thief, which is great early-game.
As you go deeper, you’ll reach two Fossils guarded by a Super Nerd. After beating him, you get to choose one:
- Helix Fossil
- Dome Fossil
Later in the game, these can be revived into fusions involving Omanyte or Kabuto.
Route 4
After exiting Mt. Moon, you’ll find yourself on Route 4. No trainers here, but there’s a hidden Moon Stone in the grass — useful if you caught something like Nidorina or Jigglypuff earlier.
Also, there’s a girl who teaches your Pokémon Mega Punch or Mega Kick — powerful moves if you can afford the accuracy risk.
Eventually, you’ll enter Cerulean City.
Cerulean City
This town has plenty to explore. Visit the Pokémon Center to heal and check out the second floor for move tutors and trades.
Inside the Hotel, new side quests unlock — the Quest Master now gives rewards for completing 5 total quests. Some new Cerulean quests include:
- Show someone a Pokémon with a Water move
- Deliver an item to a man on Route 5
- Find a hidden pearl on the beach
There’s also another Flute Guy near the Gym — beat Misty and he’ll give you another unique flute.
On the bridge north of town, a major side area awaits, but first let’s handle the Gym.
Cerulean Gym – Leader: Misty
The Gym specializes in Water-types, many of them fused with other types. This battle can be tricky without Electric or Grass coverage.
You can only use 2 Pokémon again, just like Misty.
Gym trainers before Misty may use combinations like:
- Horsea/Staryu
- Poliwag/Tentacool
They’re fast and love to spam Water Gun or Bubble.
Misty’s Team:
- Shellder/Luvdisc (Lv 18)
- Starmie/Seadra (Lv 21)
Fused Pokémon in this fight tend to be bulky and may carry Swift or Water Pulse, so status effects like Sleep or Paralyze can help.
Once you beat Misty, you earn:
- Cascade Badge
- TM03 Water Pulse
- A second Wonder Trade ticket
And just like that, you’re ready to head north and take on the Nugget Bridge challenge, new rival battles, and eventually reach Bill’s House.
Badge 3
After earning your second badge in Cerulean, your next stop is Vermilion City, but the way there isn’t entirely straightforward.
Route 5 and Route 6
Leave Cerulean by heading south through the house that was previously blocked by the police. Route 5 is full of grass and a few trainers, but there’s one big obstacle: the gate to Saffron City is blocked by a greedy Rocket grunt asking for an absurd toll. Skip that for now.
In the lower-right corner of Route 5, look for a small building. This is your shortcut — the Underground Path. It leads you directly to Route 6. On the other side, Route 6 is another simple route with some easy trainers and grass patches for catching Pokémon. Just keep heading south, and soon you’ll step into Vermilion City.
Vermilion City
Right away, you’ll notice you can’t access the gym — small trees block the path. You’ll need Cut to enter, which you’ll get from the S.S. Anne later. For now, explore the city.
On the far right side of town behind a pile of rocks, there’s a green item ball — it’s the Pickaxe, an HM replacement item for Rock Smash. Use Dig to clear the way and grab it.
Next, swing by the Pokémon Fan Club. Talk to the president inside to get a Bike Voucher. When you return to Cerulean later, exchange this at the Bike Shop for your free bike. Also near the Fan Club, speak to a lady with a Krabby — she’ll hand over a Sun Stone.
To the left of the Pokémon Center, there’s a fisherman who gives you the Old Rod, letting you catch common Water-types in nearby waters. And although there’s a Move Deleter in this city, he’s not very useful since HMs can now be forgotten freely.
Optional – Route 11
To the east is Route 11, packed with trainers and gamblers you can battle (or even play blackjack with). If you want some extra cash or experience, this is the place. Keep heading east and you’ll find a sleeping Snorlax blocking the way to Route 12 — nothing you can do about that yet, but remember it for later.
S.S. Anne
Head to the dock and board the ship using your S.S. Ticket. A crew member will tell you your room is Room #2, where you can rest and heal. Check the trash can for a free Super Potion.
Explore the ship — many rooms contain battles, items, or even trades. One of the upstairs rooms is a restaurant, which has a PC, some items for sale, and a Hyper Voice move tutor. You’ll also run into the scientist from Mt. Moon here — beat him in battle and you can choose a fossil: either Root Fossil (Lileep) or Claw Fossil (Anorith).
Eventually, you’ll need to access the captain’s room, but it’s locked. Go to the upper-left hallway and head outside onto the deck. Battle a few trainers and grab the green item ball — this is the Captain’s Key. Head back inside, stop by your room to heal if needed, then go to the captain.
Before you reach him, Blue will stop you. Time for a rival fight:
Blue’s Team:
- Pidgeotto (Lv 22)
- Staryu/Kadabra (Lv 18)
- Mankey/Raticate (Lv 20)
- Starter Fusion (Lv 22 – both halves now fully evolved into their second forms)
After defeating Blue, enter the captain’s room. Turns out he’s seasick. Help him out, and in return, he’ll hand over HM01 – Cut. Teach it to someone on your team and head back to the gym.
Vermilion Gym – Lt. Surge
The gym is now accessible. Before the battle, talk to the man near the entrance — he’ll give you a free Fresh Water and tips on the gym. There are 3 trainers, and the main challenge here is the switch puzzle. Two trash cans hide switches. The second switch is always next to the first, but picking the wrong one resets the puzzle. If it glitches and no switches appear, just leave the gym and come back.
Trainer teams include:
- Sailor: Pikachu/Seel (Lv 20)
- Engineer: Voltorb/Oddish & Voltorb/Bellsprout (Lv 21)
- Gentleman: Magnemite/Machop (Lv 23)
Once you reach Lt. Surge, he’ll limit your team to 3 Pokémon, matching his own.
Lt. Surge’s Team:
- Voltorb/Krabby (Lv 24)
- Pikachu/Diglett (Lv 24)
- Raichu/Electabuzz (Lv 26)
Defeating him gets you the Thunder Badge, TM73 (Thunder Wave), and a Wonder Trade Ticket. You’ll also unlock the ability to use Teleport outside battle — a scientist will show up outside the gym to give you HM07 – Teleport.
Optional – Pick up Some Useful Items
Before moving on, there are some extra goodies you can collect now that you have Cut and Teleport:
Diglett’s Cave: Located east of Vermilion. It leads to Route 2, but the real prize is a house with a yard full of trees. Cut them all down and talk to the man inside to get the Shears — a permanent HM item for Cut.
Old Amber Quest: Go to Pewter Museum and access the side door using Cut. This unlocks a quest about a fossil in Viridian Forest guarded by Beedrill. Fight them off, and you’ll receive the Old Amber. You can’t revive Aerodactyl just yet — that’ll come at Cinnabar Island.
Daycare: Head back to Route 5 and use Cut to enter the Daycare. Here you can leave 2 Pokémon to level up over time or breed for eggs (breeding fusions is buggy, though). The nanny inside also gives you a Togepi Egg and has a few quests that reward more eggs.
Badge 4: Journey to Celadon City
Route 9 & Route 10
Once you’ve earned your third badge, head east from Cerulean City. Cut the small tree blocking the path to access Route 9. This area is full of trainers, so get ready for some decent experience. Battle your way through until you reach the river bend — from there, go south to enter Route 10.
At the start of Route 10, you’ll find a Pokémon Center — a welcome healing spot before a major cave. Just south of here lies the entrance to the Rock Tunnel, but before heading in, you can explore a few optional things:
- Power Plant (Optional): It’s currently locked behind terrain, but you can still encounter Electric-type Pokémon nearby.
- Move Tutors: Near the Pokémon Center, a few NPCs offer move tutoring services — worth checking out if you’re building a strong fusion team.
Rock Tunnel
Heads up: Rock Tunnel is pitch-black. You’ll only see a small circle of light around your character. To light the way, you’ll need either:
- The Flash HM from the questline,
- Or better, the Lantern (HM Replacement), also obtainable via quests.
Tip: If you skipped side quests earlier, you might be navigating blind — bring Repels and healing items!
Inside the tunnel:
- Multiple floors and ladders to navigate
- Rock-type and Ground-type fusions dominate here
- In a hidden side area (accessed from Mt. Moon), you can find an NPC who gives you a free Honedge and drops a Zelda easter egg
After braving the cave, you’ll exit on the other end of Route 10, just before Lavender Town. There’s a Drill Run move tutor and a final hiker battle before reaching the next town.
Lavender Town
Welcome to the iconic and eerie Lavender Town. While there’s no gym here, it’s filled with unique interactions and side content:
- Pokémon Tower: The central attraction. It’s filled with ghost Pokémon and a critical part of the main story.
- Day/Night NPCs: Enter the house west of the Poké Mart:
- Daytime: Receive a Sun Stone
- Night: Receive a Moon Stone
- Name Rater Tent: He won’t rename your Pokémon, but he gives you TM87 Swagger if you show him a Pokémon whose name starts and ends with the same letter (e.g., a Zubat named “Zubz”).
Pokémon Tower (First Visit)
As soon as you step into Pokémon Tower, talk to the boy on the first floor to receive the Odd Keystone. Defeat 108 Ghost-types to unlock Spiritomb later.
Head upstairs and you’ll bump into Blue — time for another rival battle!
Blue’s Team:
- Cubone/Pidgeotto Lv. 25
- Gyarados Lv. 23
- Staryu/Kadabra Lv. 22
- Starter Fusion Lv. 25
After winning, Team Rocket appears and kidnaps Mr. Fuji, dragging him to the upper levels. Unfortunately, you can’t proceed — the next floor is shrouded in ghosts only visible with the Silph Scope, which you don’t have yet.
Route 8 & Route 7
Exit Lavender Town west to enter Route 8, another trainer-heavy area. The western gate into Saffron City is still blocked by Team Rocket. Instead, take the Underground Path to arrive at Route 7 — a short walk from there brings you to Celadon City.
Celadon City
One of the largest and most eventful cities in the game — packed with shops, secrets, and side quests:
Key Locations:
- Dev NPC Building (left of Pokémon Center): Catch all 420 unfused Pokémon to earn a special item.
- Eevee Walk Event (rooftop room): Accept a woman’s request to walk her Eevee, then return to receive it.
- Department Store: Buy TMs, healing items, and most evolution stones (but not all).
- Game Corner:
- Slot machines + Prize room (need a Coin Case from the old man in the building beside the hotel)
- Next door: Trade coins for rare Pokémon and items
- Fossil Scientist (Cafe):
- Battle him to receive either a Skull Fossil (Cranidos) or Armor Fossil (Shieldon)
- Return at night to access the Black Market (hidden behind removed flower pots) and buy randomized Rocket Fusions (non-defusable!)
- Super Splicers: Talk to the blue-haired girl near the café to get this powerful DNA fusion upgrade item
Celadon Sewers
Head south of the city and cut the small trees to meet Erika. After telling her about Mr. Fuji, she joins your party and heals you after every battle.
Sewer Puzzle
- Lower/raise water levels using computers
- Use fallen wooden planks as bridges when water is high
- Eventually, you and Erika split up — after that point, healing stops
Near the end, you’ll face Giovanni.
Giovanni’s Team
- Arbok/Onix Lv. 32
- Haunter/Kangaskhan Lv. 35
- Rhyhorn/Lapras Lv. 32
Beat him and grab the Silph Scope from the table. Erika returns to her gym.
Celadon Gym
Head back to town and enter the gym — just left of the sewer entrance. Erika uses Grass-types, so bring Fire, Flying, or Ice-type fusions.
This gym is a hedge maze with 8 optional trainers. You can dodge most of them if you’re careful.
Erika’s Team:
- Exeggutor/Doduo Lv. 33
- Tangela/Primeape Lv. 33
- Vileplume/Victreebel Lv. 35
Winning earns you:
- Rainbow Badge
- TM22 Solar Beam
- 2 Wonder Trade Tickets
Pokémon Tower (Revisit)
Now that you have the Silph Scope, return to Lavender Town.
Bonus Event: At 3:15 AM (real time), ring the bell in Lavender Town to reveal a secret tomb with a Reaper Cloth (for evolving Dusclops).
Enter the tower again and climb up — the ghosts are now human-like NPCs who will battle you if touched.
- On Floor 5, find a white healing zone.
- On Floor 6, a ghost blocks your path.
Ghost Encounter:
- Gengar/Marowak fusion — a nod to the original games.
Finally, reach the top floor where Mr. Fuji awaits. Team Rocket stole a prototype Master Ball, but Fuji rewards you with the Poké Flute for your rescue.
Badge 5 – The Road to Fuchsia City and the Soul Badge
Now that you have the Poké Flute from Mr. Fuji, you can wake up the two sleeping Snorlax. One is on Route 12 (south of Lavender Town) and the other is on Route 16 (west of Celadon City). Both block paths that lead to Fuchsia City, the location of your next gym challenge.
You can choose either route, but it’s a good idea to clear both for items, trainers, and useful rewards.
Waking the Snorlax
Walk up to a Snorlax and use the Poké Flute. It will wake up and battle you. You can catch it or defeat it — either way works. The Snorlax on Route 12 is especially important: once it’s gone, Janine can head home to Fuchsia, and you’ll find her later with an important reward.
Optional: Get Fly
Head to Route 16 (left of Celadon City) and use Cut to get past the small tree near the start of the route. Enter the house you see — the man inside will give you HM02 Fly. This lets you fast-travel to any town you’ve visited, just like Teleport. Super useful!
Two Ways to Reach Fuchsia City
Route Option 1: Route 16 → 17 → 18 (Cycling Road)
This is the faster and more direct route, but you’ll need the bike from Cerulean City to go through Cycling Road.
- Route 17 is a downhill path full of biker trainers. It’s a straight shot, so it’s hard to get lost.
- Route 18 is short and connects directly to Fuchsia. Some areas here are blocked until you get Surf, but you can pass through for now.
Route Option 2: Route 12 → 13 → 14 → 15 (Boardwalk Path)
This route is longer but has more to explore.
- Route 12 is a boardwalk over water, filled with fisherman trainers. There’s a small building where you can get the Good Rod, a better fishing rod than the Old Rod.
- Route 13 leads to a beach and then into a maze of fences. A helpful nurse will heal your team if you beat her. You’ll also meet a man trying to move his Rhyhorn using Strength — remember this for later!
- Route 14 and 15 continue the journey with more trainer battles. Another nurse will offer healing on Route 15. Near the end, you’ll spot a raised path behind a ledge. You can’t access it yet — you’ll need Strength and Surf later on.
Eventually, you’ll arrive in Fuchsia City.
Fuchsia City
You’ve made it! Fuchsia has a peaceful vibe, but it’s also home to the mysterious ninja gym leader, Koga. Before heading to the gym, there are a few important things you can do here.
Get HM04 Strength
Go into the house just right of the Fuchsia Hotel. If you removed the Snorlax on Route 12, you’ll find Janine inside. She’ll thank you and give you HM04 Strength, which lets you push large boulders — but you won’t be able to use it outside battle until you beat Koga.
Hidden Ability Outbreaks
In the house directly to the left of the Pokémon Center, an old woman with a Musharna will tell you which area is having an outbreak of wild Pokémon with Hidden Abilities. These outbreaks change often, so check back regularly if you’re hunting special Pokémon.
Safari Zone (Required for Progress)
Head into the Safari Zone. This place lets you catch rare Pokémon, but you don’t battle them — instead, you throw Safari Balls, bait, and mud. You get 30 balls and 600 steps before the session ends.
Why go here now? Because you need to find HM03 Surf!
Follow the path through the Safari Zone to reach the house at the back. Inside, a man will reward you with HM03 Surf. You won’t be able to use it outside of battle yet, but you’re halfway there.
Fuchsia Gym – Leader Koga
When you’re ready, challenge the gym. Koga uses Poison-type Pokémon, so Psychic and Ground-types are especially helpful. The gym is filled with invisible walls forming a maze — it might look like a wide open room, but you’ll bump into hidden walls if you’re not careful.
There are 6 trainers in total, but you can avoid most of them with careful movement.
Gym Trainers:
- Trainer 1: Weezing/Wigglytuff Lv. 36
- Trainer 2: Raticate/Drowzee Lv. 36
- Trainer 3: Nidorina/Sandshrew Lv. 32, Nidorino/Rhyhorn Lv. 34
- Trainer 4: Zubat/Venonat Lv. 32, Venonat/Lickitung Lv. 35
- Trainer 5: Ekans/Zubat Lv. 34, Grimer/Arbok Lv. 36
- Trainer 6: Venonat/Paras Lv. 35, Paras/Golbat Lv. 35
Gym Leader Koga
Koga will use 4 Pokémon, so you’re limited to using 4 of your own in this battle.
Koga’s Team:
- Venomoth/Grimer – Lv. 35
- Magnemite/Koffing – Lv. 36
- Beedrill/Scyther – Lv. 36
- Chansey/Muk – Lv. 38
Rewards
After beating Koga, you’ll earn the Soul Badge, allowing you to use Strength outside of battle. You’ll also receive TM06 Toxic, a powerful poison move, and 2 Wonder Trade Tickets.
Now that you can use Strength, a bunch of new areas and puzzles will open up — and your adventure continues!
Badge 6 – The Marsh Badge (Saffron City & Silph Co.)
Side Task: Help the Blackbelt on Route 13
Now that you have the Strength item, head to Route 13 and talk to the Blackbelt standing by his lost Rhyhorn. He needs help guiding Rhyhorn across a path of fences to reach a towel on the other side of the beach.
This works like a little puzzle. Use the Strength item to push Rhyhorn carefully through the maze. If you mess up or block him in, don’t worry—Rhyhorn can move around a little on his own after a while. Once you manage to get him to the towel, the Blackbelt rewards you with the Hand Truck, which lets you use Strength permanently without needing a Pokémon to know the move.
Welcome to Saffron City
Saffron’s gates were blocked by Team Rocket earlier, but now the guards will battle you if you talk to them. Defeat these grunts at each entrance, and the gates will be fully open. It’s time to deal with Team Rocket once and for all!
Silph Co. Takeover
Team Rocket has taken over Silph Co., and your job is to rescue all the trapped employees inside. The building has multiple floors connected by warp tiles, and some doors are locked behind barriers.
Finding the Card Key
To unlock the locked doors, you need the Card Key:
- Go to 5F and step onto a warp tile on the left side.
- It takes you to 9F, but step right back onto the same tile to return to 5F, now behind the fence.
- Walk down and grab the green Poké Ball—that’s the Card Key!
With the Card Key, you can now open all the barriers and reach hidden items and trapped workers.
Save the Employees
Some employees are scared and hiding, but talk to every non-Rocket NPC you see. These are hostages, and you need to rescue them all. One of them on 3F rewards you with a Lapras after all the others are safe.
Rival Battle & Giovanni Showdown
After rescuing everyone and heading to the boss’s room on 3F, your rival Blue shows up for a surprise battle.
Rival Blue’s Team:
- Nidoking/Pidgeot – Lv 44
- Electabuzz/Gyarados – Lv 42
- Tauros – Lv 45
- Staryu/Kadabra – Lv 42
- Starter Fusion – Lv 41
After the battle, Blue heals your team and joins you for the final fight against Giovanni.
Boss Fight – Giovanni (Double Battle with Blue)
Giovanni uses some strong fusions with good synergy:
- Primeape/Nidorino – Lv 45
- Rhydon/Lapras – Lv 45
- Gengar/Kangaskhan – Lv 47
- Sandslash/Nidoqueen – Lv 51
Win the double battle, and Team Rocket is forced to retreat from Saffron. Giovanni escapes, and Blue heads off to prepare for the Pokémon League.
Rewards
- Talk to the Silph Co. president to receive one of the Johto Starters.
- The lady at the front desk sells useful items now, like EXP Shares, Porygon Upgrades, and more. You even get a free Upgrade as a thank-you gift!
- Visit 6F to grab an extra Master Ball from the Poké Ball machine.
Fighting Dojo (Optional)
Saffron has two gyms. The official one is Sabrina’s, but the Fighting Dojo next door is still around.
Beat the trainers here and choose a reward Pokémon:
- Hitmonlee
- Hitmonchan
- Hitmontop
You won’t get a badge, but it’s a great bonus!

- A woman near the Pokémon Center gives you a Shiny Stone.
- Various buildings have Move Tutors to teach your Pokémon useful moves.
- At the northern gate, find a unique Poké Ball Shop. A Ranger gives you samples of new ball types with special effects (like EXP boosts or perfect IVs). Catch Pokémon using them to unlock more!
- The train station lets you buy tickets to Goldenrod City in Johto. You can’t explore all of Johto until the postgame, but there are shops and side content to check out.
- At the Department Store, fight your way up to the roof while the elevator is under inspection. Once at the top, use the elevator to reach the basement and grab the Teleporter, the key item that lets you Fly between towns.
Saffron Gym – Leader Sabrina
Sabrina specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon, which are weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark moves. Her gym is a warp maze with rooms connected by teleport panels. You can avoid most trainers, but at least two battles are unavoidable.
Fastest Route (If you want to skip optional fights):
- From the first room: Bottom left panel
- Then: Top right → Bottom left → Top left → Bottom left
- You’ll arrive at Sabrina’s chamber.
Trainers You Might Face:
- Drowzee/Slowpoke, Kadabra/Slowpoke, Machoke/Slowbro – Lv 38
- Mr. Mime/Kadabra – Lv 43
- Gengar/Abra, Alakazam/Gastly – Lv 39
- Dewgong/Slowbro – Lv 43
- Poliwhirl/Mr. Mime, Weepinbell/Kadabra – Lv 38
Sabrina’s Team (You must bring only 4 Pokémon):
- Hypno/Mr. Mime – Lv 41
- Espeon/Umbreon – Lv 41
- Alakazam/Slowbro – Lv 42
- Gengar/Alakazam – Lv 45
Defeat her to earn the Marsh Badge, which lets you Surf outside of battle.
She also gives:
- TM03 Psyshock
- 3 Wonder Trade Tickets
- Unlocks the Unlimited Wonder Trade Pass in the Pokémon Center
Now You Can Surf!
With Surf unlocked, a bunch of new areas open up. You can now:
Optional: The Creepy House
- Go to Route 14, break some rocks and head to Route 15.
- Push some boulders and Surf across to reach an eerie house.
- Bring Flash or the Lantern—it’s dark inside!
- Solve the piano and doll puzzle, then fight a wild Mimikyu and a Banette.
Optional: Route 23 & Crimson City
- Surf from Cerulean Cape to find Route 23.
- Fight through the route to reach Crimson City—a strange place with no Pokémon Center.
- A woman in the hotel buys Mankey Paws for cash. Combine this with the Rocket grunt selling them in Saffron for easy profit!
- On a small island north of town, you can buy Ability Capsules to change a Pokémon’s ability.
- In a nearby cave, you can also find Mawile.
Optional: Secret Forest & Viridian River
- Requires Surf. Enter through Route 2 or Route 16.
- The Secret Forest has hidden items, but the main goal is reaching Viridian River.
- Wild Starter Pokémon from Gen 1–4 appear here.
- If you hear a special chime when entering the river, and have Good Karma, you might even find a mythical Mew!
Badge 7 – The Volcano Badge (Cinnabar Island & Beyond)
Surfing to Cinnabar Island (Routes 19 & 20)
To reach Cinnabar Island, go to Fuchsia City and head south through the gate to enter Route 19. After defeating Sabrina, a new character appears near the start of this route — a man who invites you to a surfing race! Beat him and you’ll earn the Surfboard, which replaces the Surf HM and lets you travel freely across water without teaching Surf to a Pokémon.
Route 19 and 20 are ocean routes filled with Swimmer trainers and lots of Water-type Pokémon. Bring Electric or Grass-types for easy battles.
As you continue west across the waves, you’ll come across a set of cave entrances. These are the Seafoam Islands, but you won’t be able to fully explore them just yet, so keep moving toward Cinnabar.
Welcome to Cinnabar Island
Once you arrive on Cinnabar, you might be thinking it’s gym time — but not so fast! The gym is locked right now. You’ll need to do a little exploring first.
What You Can Do Right Away:
- To the west, there’s a spot where you can find and catch a wild Absol.
- To the southeast, hop onto the docked boat to get your hands on the Super Rod for fishing high-level Pokémon.
- To the southwest, Surf to a small island where there’s a house. Inside, a person offers to randomize your Pokémon’s nature for a fee. Save your game first — you can soft reset to get the nature you want.
Cinnabar Laboratory
The big building to the left of the Pokémon Center is the Cinnabar Lab. Right now, only the third door is open:
- Inside, you’ll find three scientists offering unique Pokémon trades.
- There’s a Move Tutor who can teach your Pokémon Ancient Power.
- Most importantly, there’s a fossil machine that can instantly revive fossils, including Aerodactyl — faster than the process back in Pewter City.
What’s with the Sailor and Rockets?
If you go to the southern part of the island, you’ll see Team Rocket grunts surrounding a sailor. Don’t worry about them just yet. First, we need to find the Gym Leader — Blaine — who’s hiding out in the nearby Pokémon Mansion.
Pokémon Mansion
The Pokémon Mansion is located near the western part of the island where Absol was found. It’s an old, crumbling building full of burglars, scientists, and locked gates.
Thief Trainers
Defeating trainers here drops blue Poké Balls full of cash. Don’t skip them!
Gate Puzzle
Scattered throughout the mansion are statues of Mewtwo. Interacting with them opens or closes certain gates. You’ll need to activate and deactivate them carefully to progress through the building.
Your goal is to reach a spot on the third floor where you can jump down a ledge that leads to the basement. Explore thoroughly and take your time solving the statue puzzles.
Eventually, you’ll find Blaine deep in the basement. Talk to him, and he’ll return to the gym — which is now unlocked and ready for your challenge.
Cinnabar Gym – Leader Blaine
Now that Blaine is back, it’s time to take on the Cinnabar Gym, home of Fire-type Pokémon. Be sure to bring Pokémon with Water, Ground, or Rock moves.
Gym Puzzle – The Quiz Rooms
To get through the gym, you’ll need to answer quiz questions at each gate. If you answer correctly, the gate opens. If you answer wrong — or just want to — you’ll have to fight a trainer. You can still fight trainers even after opening the gates, if you want the experience.
Here are the quiz questions and answers:

Rewards
- Volcano Badge – lets you enter more areas and continue your badge journey.
- TM38 Fire Blast – powerful but low-accuracy Fire move.
- 3 Wonder Trade Tickets – great for grabbing cool new fusions or Pokémon.
Badge 8 – The Final Gym Challenge
Trouble at Cinnabar Harbor
After earning your seventh badge, head south of Cinnabar Island to the harbor. You’ll see a group of Team Rocket grunts bothering a sailor near the Seagallop boat. Talk to them, and they’ll steal the ship right in front of you! Moments later, a scientist runs up in a panic. She says Team Rocket is heading for Mt. Ember to mess with the legendary bird Pokémon, Moltres.
She asks you to follow them by surfing south through the strong ocean currents. Get ready—this next area can be tricky!
Offshore Road – The Ocean Current Puzzle
As you surf south, you’ll enter Offshore Road, an area full of ocean currents. These moving water tiles will push you in certain directions. Your goal is to find gaps between the currents to move forward. In some parts, you’ll need to ride the current to reach the next safe zone. Keep at it, and eventually, you’ll reach lighter-colored waters—this means you’re now in the Sevii Isles!
Mt. Ember – The Showdown Begins
From the calmer sea, you’ll arrive at Kindle Road, which leads straight to Mt. Ember. You’ll see the stolen Seagallop docked on the beach. Head north into the volcano.
Inside Mt. Ember, you’ll face plenty of Rocket Grunts—including Jessie and James! Many of them talk about capturing the legendary birds. Along the way, you’ll find a locked gate. You can unlock it by finding a switch deeper in the cave. Also keep an eye out for two important items: the Ice Pick and Power Plant Key—you’ll need them later for the other two legendary birds.
After the gate, climb the ladder and head to the volcano’s heart. There, Giovanni is already confronting Moltres. He reveals he’s already captured Articuno and Zapdos using Master Balls, and now he’s going after Moltres.
In a dramatic moment, Giovanni fuses all three birds into one monstrous Pokémon—Zapmolcuno, a triple fusion!
Boss Fight – Giovanni & Zapmolcuno
Giovanni challenges you using Zapmolcuno, a one-of-a-kind boss battle. Even though it’s one Pokémon, it behaves like it has three different heads:
- One head is Electric/Flying (Zapdos)
- One is Ice/Flying (Articuno)
- One is Fire/Flying (Moltres)
All parts of the fusion have the Pressure ability, and you’ll need to knock out all three sections to win. You can only use one Pokémon at a time—so plan your team carefully. Status moves, healing, and good type matchups are key.
After a tough fight, the birds split apart and fly away. Giovanni is defeated and, shaken by his loss, quietly disappears, unsure about Team Rocket’s future.
Catching Moltres
With Giovanni gone, Moltres returns to the volcano. It’s waiting for you deep in Mt. Ember, and you can now catch it! Moltres is at level 50, so bring Ultra Balls and status effects to help you succeed.
After the Battle – Legendary Birds Spread Out
As you leave Mt. Ember, you’ll meet several people:
- The scientist tells you that Articuno flew to the Seafoam Islands
- Zapdos returned to the Power Plant
- Blue suggests heading to Viridian City next
The sailor gives you a Seagallop Pass, allowing fast travel again. You can choose to go back to Cinnabar now or explore the legendary birds’ new locations.
Optional Legendary Birds – Now Available
Power Plant (Zapdos)
Use the Power Plant Key to enter the deeper area of the Power Plant on Route 10. Inside, you’ll find item balls—but some are actually Voltorb or Electrode in disguise. You need to collect five cell batteries to unlock the inner gate.
Once the gate opens, you can challenge Zapdos, who is also level 50.
Seafoam Islands (Articuno)
Return to the Seafoam Islands on Route 20. You couldn’t go far before, but now that you have the Ice Pick, you can climb the icy wall and explore the full cave.
Inside, you’ll deal with tricky ice sliding puzzles. These puzzles make you slide until you hit a wall, so you’ll need to find the right path. Eventually, you’ll reach the bottom floor and find Articuno (level 50) waiting to be caught.
Optional Battle – Robot R.E.D.
Back on Cinnabar Island, the first room in the Cinnabar Lab is now open. You’ll find scientists standing around a robot that looks like the male player character. This is Robot R.E.D., a powerful AI trainer built for battle.
You’re only allowed to use one Pokémon, and R.E.D. uses just one too—a terrifying level 100 Blissey/Ditto fusion holding Leftovers. It has massive health and can hit very hard.
A good strategy is to bring a Ghost-type with Toxic or Will-o-Wisp, which can avoid its Normal attacks and slowly wear it down.
Defeating R.E.D. earns you a fantastic reward: Infinite Splicers, a reusable version of the DNA Splicers!
Return to Pallet Town
If you surf north of Cinnabar on Route 21, you’ll reach Pallet Town again. Stop by your house—your sibling will give you a special Pokémon Egg!
You’re now ready for the final gym challenge in Viridian City. One last badge to go!
Badge 9 – Welcome to Johto
Exploring Goldenrod City
Now that you’ve become the Pokémon League Champion, it’s time to explore the Johto region! Your first major stop is Goldenrod City, one of the largest and busiest places in Johto.
There’s a lot to check out here before taking on the Gym, so let’s explore the city first.
City Secrets and Side Content
- Evolution Stones House
On the east side of the city, there’s a narrow alley with a small house tucked away. Inside, a friendly hiker gives you evolution stones depending on the time of day—morning, day, and night all offer different stones. Check back often! - Underground Paths
Behind both the Pokémon Center and Train Station, you’ll find stairways leading into the city’s Underground Tunnel. This area connects with the Department Store basement and contains a few hidden shops. You may also run into some trainers and odd NPCs down here. - Scam Alert: Eusine’s Mewtwo
Be careful in the underground! A man named Eusine offers to trade you a “Mewtwo,” but it’s actually a Meowth/Ditto fusion in disguise. You can still accept the trade if you’re curious or just want the unique fusion. - Haunted TV – Rotom Encounter
In the southeast corner of the city is a dark building with a flickering TV inside. Come back at night and interact with the screen. You’ll trigger a Rotom encounter! - Goldenrod Radio Tower Quiz Game
Head inside the Radio Tower and go up to the second floor. Talk to one of the radio hosts to play a quiz game where you guess which Pokémon parts make up different fusions. Each correct answer gives you points.- Accumulate 3,500 points or more and you’ll unlock the Box Link—a special item that lets you access your PC boxes from anywhere. Super useful for team changes on the go!
- Goldenrod Museum
Don’t miss the museum, located on the west side of town. Inside, you’ll see 6 custom Pokémon sprites, which change daily. These are fan-made designs! You can even battle the artist if they happen to be visiting that day.
Goldenrod City Gym – Leader Whitney
After you’ve explored the city, it’s time to face Gym Leader Whitney. She’s back and stronger than ever.
Gym Puzzle – Memory Challenge
To reach Whitney, you’ll need to pass a memory challenge. A group of fused Pokémon will rush past you, and then you’ll be asked a question about them—like which fusion was in the middle, or how many heads you saw.
- If you answer correctly, the gate opens.
- If you mess up, you’ll have to battle a trainer to proceed.
There are 4 gym trainers total. Be ready for some weird and wild Normal-type fusions!
Goldenrod Gym Trainers
- Trainer 1:
- Pidgeotto/Raticate Lv 44
- Ledian/Raticate Lv 44
- Crobat/Raticate Lv 44
- Trainer 2:
- Ninetales/Persian Lv 46
- Arcanine/Persian Lv 46
- Trainer 3:
- Clefairy/Wigglytuff Lv 45
- Wigglytuff/Chansey Lv 41
- Togetic/Wigglytuff Lv 45
- Trainer 4:
- Granbull/Tauros Lv 49
Whitney’s Team Strategy
Whitney is known for her tricky Normal-types, but she mixes in some Fairy-types too. That means Fighting-types are good, but not against her Fairy coverage. Pack some Steel or Poison-types just in case.
This is also the first Johto Gym that lets you use a full team of 6 Pokémon. Whitney only brings 5, but they’re all strong and annoying in typical Whitney fashion.
Whitney’s Team:
- Lickitung/Granbull – Lv 55
- Dunsparce/Kangaskhan – Lv 56
- Girafarig/Lanturn – Lv 55
- Aipom/Tauros – Lv 56
- Chansey/Miltank – Lv 58
That last fusion is especially tanky and dangerous. It has massive HP, healing moves, and packs a punch with Body Slam or Rollout-style attacks. Burn or Toxic can help wear it down.
Badge Rewards
Once you beat Whitney, you’ll earn:
- The Plain Badge – Your first Johto badge
- TM98 Baton Pass
- 3 Wonder Trade Tickets – Use these to exchange one of your Pokémon for a random surprise!
Optional Exploration – Route 35, National Park, and Route 36
Before heading south, you can explore a few more places north of Goldenrod.
Route 35
This path is filled with trainers and leads you toward the National Park. You’ll also run into the Johto Daycare Man, who gives you a mystery egg. Take good care of it!
National Park
The park has a large grassy field with wild Pokémon and even more trainers. Great for some extra XP and catching Johto Pokémon.
Route 36
East of the park, you’ll find Route 36. There’s a strange rocky well that can help fill your Odd Keystone quest—it counts toward your goal of defeating 108 ghost-types, but only once per day.
At the end of the path, a wild Sudowoodo is blocking your way. You’ll need a Squirtbottle to move it.
- A woman in Goldenrod says she lent the Squirtbottle to her friend in Ecruteak City.
- So for now, you’ll have to go south to reach Ecruteak.
Badge 10 – Deep Forest Mysteries and Azalea Town Flood
Route 34 – Into the Woods
As you leave Goldenrod City heading south, you’ll reach Route 34, a peaceful area that leads to Ilex Forest. It’s short, but there are a few things worth checking out here:
- Johto Daycare:
- While the couple running the place won’t train your Pokémon like in other games, the man inside sells incubators. These special items help your eggs hatch faster, making them great if you’re breeding or collecting eggs.
- Free Egg Event:
- Outside the daycare, inside a fenced area, you’ll spot a mysterious egg. You’re allowed to take it—it might feel sneaky, but when you talk to the nearby policeman, he tells you the egg was abandoned and you’re actually helping by taking it with you.
Ilex Forest – A Path Opens
Once you step into Ilex Forest, you’ll notice that it’s finally passable. Before becoming the Champion, the path was blocked by huge trees. Now, thanks to a man and his trusty Scyther, a way through has been carved.
There’s more to this forest than meets the eye, so take your time exploring.
Forest Highlights:
- Celebi Shrine:
Deep in the woods, you’ll find a shrine dedicated to Celebi. If you’ve finished 30 quests, talk to the Quest Master at any hotel to get the GS Ball. Bring it here to trigger a Celebi encounter. This is a one-time legendary event, so come prepared! - Shedinja Encounter:
To the east side of the forest, you’ll come across a Shedinja waiting as a static encounter. You don’t have to do anything special to trigger it—just find it and battle or catch it.
Azalea Town – Flooded and Full of Slowpokes
As you exit the forest and enter Azalea Town, you’ll notice something strange right away: the town is flooded, and Slowpokes are everywhere!
Make your way north to find Kurt, the local Poké Ball expert. He explains the strange situation but doesn’t know what’s causing it.
Head east after speaking with him, and you’ll run into a familiar face…
Eusine Returns
That sneaky trader from Goldenrod’s underground, Eusine, is back. Talk to him twice to trigger a battle.
After you beat him, Eusine reveals he clogged up the Slowpoke Well with Shellders, though he won’t say why. He runs off afterward.
Return to Kurt and explain what happened. He thanks you for your help and gives you a key item: HM06 Dive.
Dive into Slowpoke Well
With Dive in hand, head to Slowpoke Well just east of town and use it to go underwater. Inside the well, you’ll see a clever puzzle involving 4 Slowpokes and 4 Shellders.
The goal is to evolve each Slowpoke into a Slowbro by:
- Using Strength to push a Slowpoke into a nearby Shellder.
- This fuses them, forming a Slowbro that swims away and clears the path.
- Repeat for all 4 pairs.
Azalea Gym – Leader Kurt
Kurt returns to thank you—and reveals he’s actually the town’s Gym Leader! In this version of the game, Bugsy is too young to take the role just yet, so Kurt is in charge.
Gym Puzzle – Web Maze
This Bug-type gym is filled with sticky white and yellow webs. You’ll need to:
- Tap the white webs in a certain order to unlock paths.
Once the pattern is correct, tap the yellow webs to remove them.
Gym Trainers
There are four trainers here, and one of them is none other than Bugsy himself, acting as a gym assistant.
- Trainer 1:
- Trainer 2:
- Primeape/Ledian Lv 49
- Ledian/Machoke Lv 49
- Trainer 3:
- Butterfree/Ariados Lv 47
- Swinub/Ariados Lv 47
- Bugsy (assistant):Scyther/Pinsir Lv 51
Gym Leader Kurt – Battle Breakdown
Kurt specializes in Bug-type Pokémon, but with a twist—most of his team includes fusions with other types, making things more tricky than expected. Watch out for dual-types and defensive strategies.
Good choices: Fire, Flying, or Rock-types. Be careful with moves like Quiver Dance or setups that can stall.
Kurt’s Team:
- Beedrill/Ariados – Lv 56
- Forretress/Cloyster – Lv 56
- Yanmega/Kingdra – Lv 58
- Slowbro/Scizor – Lv 58
- Blissey/Shuckle – Lv 62
That last fusion is a tank! Blissey/Shuckle has huge defenses and might stall you out if you’re not ready. Strong special attackers or status effects like Burn can help break through.
Rewards for Winning
For defeating Kurt, you’ll receive:
- The Hive Badge – Your second Johto badge
- TM99 Quiver Dance – A strong buff move for special attackers
- 3 Wonder Trade Tickets – Exchange your Pokémon for surprise trades
After the battle, you can find Kurt back at his home. Visit him and he’ll sell you custom Poké Balls with a chance to apply status effects (like Sleep or Paralysis) when used on wild Pokémon.
Badge 11 – Windy Paths and Ancient Secrets
Route 33, Union Cave & Route 32 – A Long Way Around
After getting your 10th badge, the road ahead finally opens up. Head east of Azalea Town to reach Route 33, where you’ll find the entrance to Union Cave. However, the direct path through the cave is blocked by some sleeping Gravelers.
Talk to the Black Belt nearby, and he’ll mention needing to take the long way around. Looks like you’ll have to do the same.
Inside Union Cave
- Surf across the small pond to the left to find a ladder.
- Continue exploring and you’ll come across side paths that lead to two hidden areas of the Ruins of Alph – Chambers D and E. These don’t help right now, but remember them for later.
Keep following the cave’s path until you reach the other side of the blocked area. Use Rock Smash on a rock between the Gravelers to wake them up—they’ll run off, clearing the way for good.
Soon, you’ll exit onto Route 32.
Route 32 – Tall Grass or Boardwalk Battles
This route has two paths:
- One leads through tall grass, where wild Pokémon roam.
- The other is a boardwalk with several fisherman battles.
Pick the route you prefer, but both lead to the same fork in the road:
- West takes you to the Ruins of Alph
- North leads to Violet City
Head north first. Just before reaching the city, Eusine appears again. He says he’s heading to the Ruins of Alph. Looks like it’s time to follow him.
Ruins of Alph – Legendary Trouble
Inside Chamber A, you’ll find Eusine again. Go down the ladder, and deep in the ruins you’ll witness a strange legendary fusion beast. As you approach it, it flees.
When you come back up, a scientist tells you to visit his lab near the east entrance of the ruins. Go there, and you’ll meet up with Eusine again.
Eusine’s Confession
Eusine explains everything:
- He wanted to attract Suicune to Azalea Town.
- His plan worked—but so did the thunderstorm, which brought Raikou.
- Then he accidentally dropped DNA Splicers into the water…
- Suicune and Raikou fused into a single beast and escaped.
He tells you that if you ever catch a legendary bird (Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres) or a legendary beast (Raikou, Entei, Suicune), you should visit him again in Cherrygrove City.
Tracking the Fusion Beast
The scientist now gives you a special tracker device. With it, you can check where the Raikou/Suicune fusion is roaming. It behaves like a roaming Pokémon—showing up randomly in wild areas and fleeing as soon as the battle begins.
Tip: Use moves like Mean Look, Shadow Tag, or Arena Trap to stop it from running. Or use a Master Ball if you just want to catch it quickly.
Unown Puzzle & Hidden Power Room
In the ruins, you’ll find worn stone tablets with a strange pattern. All together, they form a clue:
“A-B-D-E-C-B-A. THE ORDER MUST BE RESPECTED.”
This is the correct order to visit the chambers inside the Ruins of Alph:
- Chamber A
- Chamber B
- Chamber D (reachable only through Union Cave)
- Chamber E (also through Union Cave)
- Chamber C
- Back to B
- Then A again
After touching the tablets in this order, return to Chamber A, and you’ll fall into a hidden room!
Inside the Secret Room:
- You’ll find a pink Poké Ball that respawns daily. It holds a random Arceus Plate each day.
- There’s also a bowl where you can place a plate. Do that, then touch the nearby tablet to teach your Pokémon a Hidden Power move matching that plate’s type.
- Don’t worry—you can take the plate back afterward.
Bonus: Fossil Maniac
Before leaving, visit the Fossil Maniac nearby. Battle him one final time, and he’ll tell you a useful tip:
You can sometimes find fossils while using Rock Smash in the overworld!
Violet City – Classic with a Twist
Once you arrive in Violet City, explore a bit before challenging the gym. There are some new features added here in Infinite Fusion.
Points of Interest:
- Pokémon School (East side)
An old man here offers to remove a Pokémon’s original trainer for a fee of ₽50,000. This lets you unfuse Pokémon you got from trades, even if they were originally someone else’s. - Giovanni’s House (South)
He’s now retired and living with his son, Silver. He doesn’t give you anything, but does confirm he handed the Viridian Gym over to Blue. - Sprout Tower (North)
Important for post-game content.
Violet Gym – Gym Leader Falkner
Time for Badge 11! The gym leader here is Falkner, who specializes in Flying-type Pokémon.
🔥 Use Electric, Rock, or Ice types to gain an edge.
Gym Puzzle – The Wind Challenge
- First floor is simple—walk forward and take the elevator up.
- On the upper floor, wind blows every second, pushing you back two tiles.
- You’ll hear a sound just before the wind blows. Time your steps carefully, or you’ll fall down to the first floor.
- If that happens, the wind keeps blowing nonstop until you leave and reenter the gym.
Trainers Inside:
- Trainer 1
- Misdreavus/Fearow Lv 53
- Aipom/Fearow Lv 53
- Trainer 2
- Hitmonlee/Pidgeotto Lv 51
- Hitmonchan/Pidgeotto Lv 51
- Hitmontop/Pidgeotto Lv 51
- Trainer 3
- Chansey/Butterfree Lv 53
- Beedrill/Crobat Lv 53
Falkner’s Team – Wind and Wings
Falkner has a solid mix of power, speed, and tricky fusions. His team includes both physical and special threats, so prepare well.
Falkner’s Team:
- Xatu/Noctowl – Lv 58
Granbull/Honchkrow – Lv 58
Skarmory/Houndoom – Lv 60
Marowak/Togekiss – Lv 61
Ursaring/Pidgeot – Lv 63
Watch out for mixed typings like Fire/Steel, Fairy/Dark, or Flying/Ghost. A balanced team is your best bet here.
Victory Rewards
After defeating Falkner, you receive:
- Zephyr Badge – Your 11th badge
- TM100 Defog – Clears hazards in battle and fog on the field
- 4 Wonder Trade Tickets – Trade with random players or NPCs
Badge 12 – Journey to Blackthorn and Beyond
Your next goal is to earn Badge 12, which takes you on an exciting adventure through Route 31, Dark Cave, and finally to Blackthorn City, where the powerful Dragon-type Gym Leader Clair awaits. Let’s go step by step and explore everything this chapter has to offer.
Route 31 – Into the Shadows
Route 31 connects you from Violet City toward Dark Cave. It’s a quiet route, but packed with mystery. As you walk along, you’ll see tall grass with common wild Pokémon. Near the eastern edge, there’s the entrance to Dark Cave — the next big challenge.
Make sure you bring a Pokémon that knows Flash or carry a Lantern, because it gets pitch black inside.
Dark Cave – A Path Blocked
Inside Dark Cave, the path splits, and on the east side, a giant boulder blocks your way. An officer stands nearby, explaining that some of his team members are carrying dynamite, which can break through the rock.
What to do:
- Go back and explore the cave to find 3 workers.
- Defeat each one in a Pokémon battle to earn a stick of dynamite.
- Return to the officer once you’ve got all 3.
- Watch as he blasts the boulder away, clearing the path forward.
From here, you’ll need to surf across a small pond and follow the tunnel to finally arrive in Blackthorn City.
Blackthorn City – A Town of Dragons
Welcome to Blackthorn City, known for its connection to Dragon-type Pokémon. Unlike most cities, Blackthorn has patches of grass where wild Pokémon appear. It’s a beautiful, snow-touched place surrounded by cliffs and hot springs.
Things to do:
- Visit the Pokémon Center and heal up.
- Explore behind the gym by surfing — you’ll find a cave entrance to the mysterious Dragon’s Den.
- Get ready for a tough Gym battle!
Blackthorn Gym – The Lava Trial
This gym isn’t just a test of strength—it’s a puzzle too.
The gym is built above lava pits and elevated platforms. You’ll need to reach the top floor and push boulders using the Strength move. When the boulders fall into holes, they create bridges across the lava.
Tip: If you accidentally fall onto an empty platform with no exit, use the Debugger Key Item to teleport back to safety.
Blackthorn Gym Trainers
Before facing Clair, you’ll battle several strong trainers using dragon hybrids and fire-types. Here are their teams:
Trainer 1
- Charmeleon/Seadra (Lv 57)
- Quilava/Seadra (Lv 57)
Trainer 2
- Seadra/Dragonair (Lv 59)
Trainer 3
- Bayleef/Dratini (Lv 54)
- Quilava/Dratini (Lv 54)
- Croconaw/Dratini (Lv 54)
Trainer 4
Metapod/Dragonite (Lv 62)
Gym Leader Clair – The Dragon Queen
Clair is a powerful trainer and cousin of the legendary Lance. She uses a mixed team of strong and unusual Dragon-type fusions.
Clair’s Team:
- Feraligatr/Gyarados (Lv 62)
- Donphan/Dragonair (Lv 62)
- Glaceon/Kingdra (Lv 63)
- Ariados/Charizard (Lv 63)
- Garchomp/Aerodactyl (Lv 66)
Strategy Tips:
- Bring Pokémon that know Ice, Fairy, or Dragon moves.
- Avoid relying too much on Water-types—Clair’s team has counters for them.
- Be prepared for tricky combinations and fast moves.
Victory Rewards
After defeating Clair, you’ll earn the Rising Badge, a sign of your mastery over dragons. You’ll also receive:
- TM101: Dragon Dance – a powerful boosting move.
- 4 Wonder Trade Tickets – great for getting surprise Pokémon.
Dragon’s Den – Gible Awaits
Once you beat Clair, head to the Dragon’s Den, located behind the gym. Surf through the water, avoiding the whirlpool tiles. These used to randomly appear and pull you away, but now they’ve calmed down.
At the far end, you’ll find a cozy house with an elderly woman inside. She’ll thank you for helping Blackthorn and reward you with a Gible, a powerful Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon with great potential.
What’s Next?
Now that you have Badge 12, new doors will open across the region. You’re one step closer to unlocking the secrets of legendary Pokémon like Arceus and Mewtwo. Return to New Bark Town to speak with Professor Elm, who has new information to share and possibly even a Pokémon gift!

Badge 13 – Through the Ice Mountains to Mahogany Town
Your journey continues with the quest for Badge 13, taking you through freezing peaks, a legendary encounter with Arceus, and an icy battle against Gym Leader Pryce. Get ready for a mix of adventure, mystery, and powerful Pokémon!
Ice Mountains – Slippery Slopes and Secrets
After leaving Blackthorn City, head east, then north to enter the Ice Mountains, a cold, rugged area filled with snow, ice, and strong wild Pokémon.
To reach the deeper part of the mountain, you’ll need the Golbat Boots (earned earlier from Sprout Tower in Violet City). These boots let you leap over wide gaps—perfect for getting across the broken paths inside the mountain.
Explore the Ice Cavern
While navigating the Ice Mountains, you’ll come across a side path leading to a small cave called the Ice Cavern. Inside, there’s a hidden chamber where you can find and catch a wild Mamoswine—a strong Ice/Ground Pokémon that can be very helpful in upcoming battles.
Back in the main path, keep heading north until you reach a snowy mountain peak. Here, something strange awaits.
Hall of Origin – The Arceus Encounter
On the snowy peak, you’ll find a mysterious glowing circle. If you already received the Azure Flute from Eusine in Cherrygrove City, step into the circle and interact with it.
When prompted, choose to play the Azure Flute.
Suddenly, a shimmering staircase appears, leading high into the sky.
The Hall of Origin
Climb the staircase to reach the Hall of Origin, a heavenly platform floating in the clouds. Waiting at the center is Arceus, the original Pokémon.
Catch Arceus and the screen will fade to white…
Back Home (Pallet Town)
After catching Arceus, you’ll find yourself waking up back at home in Pallet Town. There’s more than just rest here:
- The 18 elemental Plates for Arceus are now hidden across the world.
- Visit Professor Oak and receive a Hoenn Starter of your choice: Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip.
Once you’re done, Fly back to Blackthorn City and return to the Ice Mountains to continue your journey.
Mr. Pokémon & The Sinjoh Ruins
Make a quick stop at Route 30 and talk to Mr. Pokémon again. Show him the Arceus you caught. Something incredible happens:
You and Arceus are suddenly teleported into a glowing room with ancient symbols.
Welcome to the Sinjoh Ruins
Walk outside to meet a friendly hiker, who explains that you’re now in the Sinjoh Ruins, a hidden place where legends are born. He invites you into his cabin.
Inside is Cynthia, the Champion of Sinnoh.
She notices your Arceus and leads you to a sacred chamber. When Arceus cries out, a series of visions flash—then, on the ground, three large runes appear, each holding an egg.
These eggs contain the Legendary Creation Trio:
- Dialga
- Palkia
- Giratina
Pick them up and talk to Cynthia again to return to the Ruins of Alph in Johto. These eggs take a long time to hatch, so use Super Incubators if you have them.
Route 44 – The Frozen Path
From the Ice Mountains, head east and you’ll arrive on Route 44—a short and chilly road leading directly to Mahogany Town. There are a few wild Pokémon and a couple of trainers, but it’s a straight path.
Mahogany Town – Cold and Quiet
Mahogany Town is a small, peaceful place with little to explore. There’s no full PokéMart here, but an elderly woman runs a small shop where you can buy healing items.
The main attraction here is the Mahogany Gym, where your next badge awaits.
Mahogany Gym – Hockey on Ice
The gym is styled like an icy hockey rink. Your job is to push a Poké Ball across the ice into a goal on the right side. It’s not as easy as it sounds—moving trainers act like hockey players, blocking and bouncing the ball. Use the wall alcoves to change your angle and line up the perfect shot.
If you mess up, leave the gym and come back to reset the ball’s position.
Gym Trainers
You’ll face four gym trainers along the way, each one using chilly fusion Pokémon:
Trainer 1
- Jynx/Miltank (Lv 57)
- Jynx/Tauros (Lv 57)
Trainer 2
- Glaceon/Vulpix (Lv 56)
- Glaceon/Ninetales (Lv 59)
Trainer 3
- Glaceon/Luxray (Lv 62)
Trainer 4
- Piloswine/Steelix (Lv 62)
Gym Leader Pryce – Master of Ice
Pryce is an experienced trainer who uses a creative mix of Ice-types fused with other strong Pokémon. Be ready for surprise combos and heavy-hitting moves.
Pryce’s Team:
- Dewgong/Slowking (Lv 65)
- Infernape/Weavile (Lv 65)
- Jynx/Wailord (Lv 65)
- Probopass/Cloyster (Lv 65)
- Mamoswine/Bastiodon (Lv 64)
Strategy Tips:
- Use Fire, Fighting, and Steel moves to your advantage.
- Avoid using Grass-types—they’ll struggle against the Ice and Rock coverage.
- Pryce’s team can take a hit, so focus on speed and coverage.
Rewards for Victory
After defeating Pryce, you’ll earn:
- The Glacier Badge – Badge #13
- TM79: Frost Breath – a move that always results in a critical hit
- 5 Wonder Trade Tickets – try your luck with exciting trades!
Final Checklist
- ✔️ Explore the Ice Mountains
- ✔️ Play the Azure Flute and catch Arceus
- ✔️ Visit Sinjoh Ruins with Mr. Pokémon
- ✔️ Receive the legendary eggs of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina
- ✔️ Battle through Mahogany Gym’s hockey puzzle
- ✔️ Defeat Pryce and earn the Glacier Badge
Badge 14 – Mysteries of Ecruteak and the Fusion of Legends
Your next adventure brings you to Ecruteak City, an old town filled with haunted towers, strange energies, and one of the most creative gym puzzles yet. Along the way, you’ll meet champions, uncover ancient secrets, and take part in a fusion of legendary Pokémon!
Route 42 and Mt. Mortar – Choose Your Path
From Mahogany Town, travel west onto Route 42. You’ll find two ways forward:
- Surf across the water to skip through the route quickly.
- Explore Mt. Mortar, a large and dark cave filled with wild Pokémon and rare encounters.
Inside Mt. Mortar, there’s a waterfall you can climb (with HM07: Waterfall). At the top, you’ll find a daily static encounter—it changes each day, so check back often for rare Pokémon.
No matter which path you take, you’ll end up at the eastern gate of Ecruteak City.
Welcome to Ecruteak City – A Town of Balance and Shadows
Ecruteak is full of interesting characters and side quests. Here’s everything you can do before heading to the gym:
Get the Squirtbottle (Finally!)
Head south out of Ecruteak to Route 37, then keep going south until you find the flower shop. Talk to the woman inside to receive the Squirtbottle, which will let you remove the Sudowoodo blocking the path on Route 36 later on.
Check Your Karma
Left of the Pokémon Center, visit the old woman who tells you your Karma level. Karma affects some events, like legendary encounters.
Outside, you’ll also meet a backpacker asking for directions.
- If you give her correct directions, you’ll gain good karma.
- If you send her the wrong way, you’ll get bad karma.
- She’ll show up in the town you sent her to—talk to her again to keep earning or adjusting karma.
Dark Dreams and Newmoon Island
In the northeast house of Ecruteak, a boy is having nightmares.
- If you have bad karma, enter the house and approach the boy.
- You’ll suddenly wake up on Newmoon Island—a spooky, shadowy place.
- Here, you can battle and catch Darkrai, the pitch-black legendary.
After catching Darkrai, you’ll return to the house and the boy will be free from his nightmare.
Bell Tower and Legendary Fusion
Try to visit the Bell Tower, but a monk will stop you, saying strange energy is in the air. He mentions that Alder, Champion of Unova, is investigating.
- Find Alder in the house to the right of the Poké Mart.
- He wants you to defeat the Kimono Girls in battle.
- After your victory, he’ll give you the Light Stone and Dark Stone, containing the spirits of Reshiram and Zekrom.
Return to the monk at the Bell Tower. He’ll now let you inside.
Bell Tower Puzzle – Light and Shadow
Inside the Bell Tower, you’ll face a unique challenge.
- The room has statues and barriers.
- One side of the room is lit, and the other is shadowed.
- Ring the bell to swap the sides.
- Barriers appear only in the lit room, while the shadow side is clear—but harder to see!
- You’ll need to memorize the lit side, ring the bell, and walk through the dark side without hitting invisible walls.
Make your way to the top floor.
Interact with the bell to trigger a massive fusion vortex. Out of it emerges a Reshiram/Zekrom fusion!
This is your chance to battle and catch this one-of-a-kind legendary.
Burned Tower – Find Morty
You might try to challenge the Ecruteak Gym next—but it’s locked.
Talk to the old man outside. He says Morty is training inside the Burned Tower.
Enter the Burned Tower and jump through the broken wooden floorboards to reach the basement. Climb the ladder up to the second floor.
You’ll see Morty across the room, but you can’t reach him directly.
Go up another floor, then drop down through a gap to land in front of him.
Talk to Morty—he’ll head back to the gym for your battle.
Ecruteak Gym – The Skull Path
Morty’s gym is spooky and tricky.
- The gym is pitch black, and your only path is over glowing skull platforms.
- These skulls flash between white and red, showing different paths every second.
- Memorize the correct path and time your movement carefully.
- Gym trainers walk around, but once defeated, they’ll vanish after you talk to them again.

Morty’s Team:
- Gengar/Dusknoir (Lv 65)

- Fog Badge – Badge #14
- TM97: Nasty Plot – boosts Special Attack sharply

Next Stop: The Lake of Rage
Head north of Mahogany Town through Route 43. You’ll reach the famous Lake of Rage soon—where even more strange events are happening, and a fusion of Kyurem awaits!
Badge 15 – Exploring the Sevii Isles and Facing Chuck
After your adventure in Johto and earning Badge 14, it’s time to continue your journey in a new region—the Sevii Isles. This next part of your journey is packed with exciting locations, hidden treasures, powerful trainers, and legendary Pokémon. You’ll also earn Badge 15 from Chuck, the Cianwood City Gym Leader, who is currently training here.
Let’s start this tropical adventure!
Getting to Knot Island
To begin, head back to Cinnabar Island. You’ll find a boat at the dock that can take you to the Sevii Isles. Choose Knot Island as your destination. If you’ve been here before, you can also just Fly there directly.
Knot Island
Knot Island is the first stop in the Sevii Isles. It’s filled with helpful NPCs and optional activities. Here’s what you can find:
Pokemon Center Events
- Inside the Pokémon Center, you’ll meet two men who offer Eggs in exchange for Heart Scales.
- Heart Scales are the main currency in this region and can be found at beaches or won in battles.
Celio and Bebe
You’ll meet Celio and Bebe, the creators of the Pokémon storage system. Celio dropped an important network chip on Kindle Road, which you’ll need to retrieve later
Move Expert’s House
In the house next to the Pokémon Center, there’s a move tutor who teaches special moves for 2 Heart Scales. These moves are usually exclusive to Pokémon not native to the game but can be learned if your Pokémon matches certain traits (like type or design).
Triple Battle Lounge
On the western side of the island, you’ll find a building where you can participate in Triple Battles. The prize and Pokémon you face change every day.
Optional: Treasure Beach
Surf south from the western shore to reach Treasure Beach. Here, you can:
- Collect Heart Scales (pink Poké Balls that respawn daily)
- Encounter wild Pokémon, including Pyukumuku during rainstorms.
Kindle Road & Mt. Ember
Surf east from Knot Island to enter Kindle Road.
Battle Facilities
Go a bit further east to find:
- Battle Factory: Battle using rented fused Pokémon (single or double battle options).
- Battle Tower: Use your own Pokémon to earn rewards.
- Win battles to earn Factory Tokens, which can be spent on items, TMs, or to teach Egg Moves.
Retrieving the Network Adapter
Continue along Kindle Road until you find a large boulder and a green Poké Ball in front of it. This is the network adapter Celio lost. Grab it!
Return it to Bebe back in Knot Island to receive a Sinnoh Starter Pokémon.
Clearing the Path
Use Dive to get around the boulder, talk to the worker on the other side, and help him push it into the water to clear the way.
Mt. Ember & Ruby Chamber
Surf north from the boulder area to reach the fiery Mt. Ember.
Entering the Ruby Chamber
Go through the eastern side of Mt. Ember until you find a crimson cave — this is the Ruby Chamber.
- Talk to the old man at the first ladder. He needs Fire Gems to make a special cream to handle the heat below.
- Buy Fire Gems from Cinnabar Poké Mart, then return and give them to him.
- He’ll give you heatproof cream, allowing you to explore deeper.
Puzzle Paths
- To find the Ruby, take the path: Right → Left → Right
- To find the Lava Pool, go: Left → Right → Left
Once you reach the lava pool, toss the Ruby in, and Groudon will appear! Defeat or catch it. Afterward, a vortex will return you to the outside.
Brine Road, Scuba Gear & The Deep Sea
Brine Road
Surf east of Kindle Road to reach Brine Road. A swimmer blocks the path and asks for 5 Deepsea Scales.
- Dive into the water south of him to explore the Deep Sea.
- Find the Deepsea Scales and return to him to get the Scuba Gear (works like Dive).
Old Shipwreck
Past the swimmer is a sunken ship you can explore later.
Deep Sea & Sapphire Cave
Use your Scuba Gear to explore the deep sea. The ocean here is stormy on the surface, so you must go underwater.
Underwater Exploration
- Encounter wild Pokémon in seaweed.
- Use Flash in dark rooms.
- You may find Togepi Island with wild Togepi and Togetic.
Finding the Sapphire
- To reach the Sapphire: Right → Right
- To find Sapphire Cave: Right → Left → Down → Right
Place the sapphire in the cave entrance to unlock it. Inside, you’ll find Kyogre. Catch it, then exit via the vortex.
Boon Island & Chuck’s Gym
What to Do Here
- Watch the TV in the Pokémon Center to learn about two roaming Pokémon: Latias and Latios.
- Use your tracker from the Ruins of Alph to follow them.
- They flee in battle, so bring trapping moves (but not Arena Trap—they have Levitate!).
Legendary Move Tutor
A man on the east side can teach signature moves of Legendary Pokémon, but only to Pokémon that match the theme.
Chuck’s Gym Battle
Go to the north shore of Boon Island. You’ll find Chuck, the Gym Leader from Cianwood City, training under a waterfall.
Talk to him from across the shore to start your battle.
Chuck’s Team (Level 62–64)
- Kabutops/Machamp – lv 62
- Poliwrath/Primeape – lv 64
- Blaziken/Infernape – lv 62
- Lucario/Flygon – lv 63
- Hitmonchan/Snorlax – lv 64
Tip: Use Flying or Psychic types to counter Chuck’s Fighting-type fusion team.
Reward
- Storm Badge
- Navel Ticket (use this to visit Navel Rock, a legendary location!)
Navel Rock & Legendary Fusion
Use the Navel Ticket at the dock to reach Navel Rock.
- Walk past a pond and climb through a ladder-filled cave.
- You’ll see wild Flying-types along the way.
- At the peak, a thin path leads to a mysterious vortex
Suddenly, a powerful Pokémon appears — a fusion of Ho-Oh and Lugia!
Catch it to complete this legendary event.
Afterward, use the boat to return to Boon Island.
Summary of What You’ve Achieved:
- Explored the Sevii Isles
- Caught Groudon, Kyogre, and Ho-Oh/Lugia fusion
- Discovered roaming Latias and Latios
- Completed puzzles and earned new items
- Defeated Chuck and earned your 15th Gym Badge
Badge 16: Tectonic Badge – Sootopolis Gym (Sevii Isles Finale)
Head to Chrono Island
After defeating Chuck and getting the Storm Badge along with the Navel Ticket, your next goal is to head to Chrono Island, another part of the Sevii Isles.
From Boon Island:
- Go to the port and talk to the sailor.
- Select Chrono Island as your destination.
- Once you land, heal your Pokémon and stock up on items — the next few battles will be tough!
Exploring Chrono Island
Chrono Island is peaceful at first glance, but there are a few key places you should visit
Time Shrine
In the northern part of the island, there’s a mysterious Time Shrine. You can interact with it, but it doesn’t do anything — yet. Remember this place for post-game events.
Fossil Lab
You’ll also find a Fossil Reviver Lab. If you’ve collected any fossils during your journey (like Dome Fossil or Helix Fossil), now’s the time to bring them to life.
Molten Path – The Way to the Final Gym
From the east side of Chrono Island, take the Molten Path. It’s a lava-filled cave that leads to the final gym
Key Obstacles:
- You’ll need Strength, Rock Smash, and Surf to get through.
- Wild Pokémon include fusions of fire, rock, and ground types — bring Water, Ground, or Flying-type Pokémon.
- There are trainers here using high-level fusion Pokémon — around Lv. 60–65.
At the end of the path, you’ll reach a massive underground chamber: the Sootopolis Gym, moved here by the fangame’s developers for storyline reasons.
The Final Gym – Sootopolis Gym
This gym is led by Clair, the Dragon-type expert from Johto, now taking the final gym spot in this fangame. Her fusion Pokémon are incredibly powerful and strategic.
Gym Puzzle
The gym puzzle is lava-themed:
- Floating platforms move across a lava lake.
- You must activate switches in the right order to create paths.
- If you step on the wrong tile, you fall into the lava (don’t worry—you’ll just be sent back to the last platform).
Gym Trainers (Levels 62–66)
Each gym trainer uses Dragon-type fusions with other strong types like Steel, Fire, and Psychic. Here are some examples:
- Altaria/Charizard – Dragon/Fire
- Dragonair/Metagross – Dragon/Steel
- Garchomp/Salamence – Dragon/Flying
Tip: Use Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type moves to take them down. Also, status effects like burn and paralysis can help.
Clair – Final Gym Leader
After solving the puzzle, you’ll face Clair, who uses a full team of Level 66–70 fusion Pokémon. She’s known for being tough, even in the original games — and here, she’s even stronger.
Clair’s Team:
- Dragonite/Togekiss (Lv. 67) – Dragon/Fairy
- Very tanky, uses Moonblast and Dragon Dance.
- Hydreigon/Typhlosion (Lv. 68) – Dark/Dragon/Fire
- Fast and strong, with Flamethrower and Crunch.
- Salamence/Milotic (Lv. 67) – Dragon/Water
- Uses Dragon Pulse and Recover.
- Flygon/Lucario (Lv. 68) – Dragon/Steel
- Very fast, uses Iron Tail and Aura Sphere.
- Kingdra/Gardevoir (Lv. 66) – Dragon/Psychic
- Can set up Calm Mind, be careful!
- Latios/Latias Fusion (Lv. 70) – Dragon/Psychic
- Her ace fusion. Powerful with Psychic, Draco Meteor, and Recover.
Strategy:
- Lead with a Fairy-type that resists Dragon moves.
- Use status moves like Toxic or Will-O-Wisp to chip away at her bulkier Pokémon.
- Ice Beam, Moonblast, and Crunch are all great moves here.
Victory! The Tectonic Badge
Once you defeat Clair, she will finally acknowledge your strength (grudgingly, of course).
You’ll receive:
- Tectonic Badge – Your final badge!
- TM02: Dragon Pulse
- Legendary Locator – A new item that reveals the locations of roaming legendary fusions like Latios/Latias, Entei/Raikou, and more.
What’s Next?
Now that you have all 16 badges, you can:
- Access the final challenge areas like Mt. Silver, Battle Frontier, or Champion’s Path.
- Begin the Legendary Pokémon Hunt.
- Face the Elite Four (if the game includes a final league).
Summary
Badge | Location | Gym Leader | Type |
---|---|---|---|
16 | Chrono Island | Clair | Dragon-type Fusions |
Tips Before Moving On:
- Train your team to at least Lv. 70.
- Stock up on Full Restores, Max Revives, and status healers.
- Build a balanced team covering all types.
